Additional Information

The Miller College is accredited by AACSB- International. Faculty is required to stay academically qualified by conducting scholarly research and publishing regularly in leading journals in their discipline and presenting at professional meetings. Faculty is also required to actively contribute professional service to the Department, the Miller College of Business, Ball State University, the profession, the regional business community and the State of Indiana.

Position Function

Serve as the chief executive of the department; plan, direct, and coordinate the academic, operational, personnel, budgetary, and student activities of the department; academic programs and in the maintenance of excellence in teaching, scholarly productivity or creative endeavor, and service. Teach as required by department needs; conduct scholarly research; perform service.

Minimum Education

Terminal degree in one of the program areas of the department; business analytics, information systems, decision sciences or closely related area.

Minimum Experience

Demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor level.

Minimum Other

Evidence of leadership and communication skills; evidence of effective team building skills.

Preferred Education

Earned Ph.D. degree in business analytics, information systems, decision sciences, or closely related area.

Preferred Experience

Three years of academic department, college or university administrative experience.

Preferred Other

Skills in short and long-range strategic planning; demonstrated skills in hiring, supervising, evaluating, and promoting faculty and staff; demonstrates commitment to diversity.

Serve as the department’s primary spokesperson and representative to the college, university, and external community.
