Ball State University is inviting applicants with a passion for working with students and building operations to join the L. A. Pittenger Student Center team. The Assistant Director for Operations is responsible for planning and implementing building operations, staffing, and event reservation oversight. They will provide support and resources for students, faculty, staff and guests of the university, as well as help the Director for Student Center and Programs with planning for future facility upgrades to ensure our building is continuing to provide the best experience for our guests.

Position Function

Manage the daily operations of the Student Center, including event reservations; building maintenance; custodial operations (three shifts 7 days/week); and student operations staff; liaison with some offices housed in the Student Center regarding day-to-day operations; personnel functions for custodial staff; and budget execution for areas of responsibility.

Minimum Education

Master’s degree by date of appointment.

Minimum Experience

At least one year of work experience in a college union or closely related field.

Minimum Other

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Master’s degree

Preferred Experience

At least two years of professional experience in college union administration or related field.

Preferred Other

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage diverse operations.

Provide support to the Director in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program regarding maintenance and appearance of the facility and grounds; work with Facilities Planning and Management, Purchasing Services, and other university offices in the performance of operations functions on a daily basis.

Supervise the Reservations Office, Custodial Staff, and Student Operations Staff to provide quality and timely service with all campus and off-campus guests that utilize Student Center facilities.
