The School of Kinesiology invites applications for a full-time contract faculty position with an emphasis in secondary physical education available August 17, 2018 for the academic year.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate health and physical education teacher education courses and activity courses in the School of Kinesiology.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned master’s degree in physical education from an accredited college or university by date of appointment, with an emphasis in secondary physical education; has held or holds certification or licensure for teaching; minimum of two years K-12 teaching experience.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Physical Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university, teaching experience in a college setting; Ability to teach a variety of physical activity courses.


Has held or holds certification or licensure for teaching.

Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a background check.

Department Information

The School of Kinesiology is currently one of seven academic units in the College of Health at Ball State University.

The School is housed in the Health and Physical Activity (HP) complex on the Ball State University campus. Specific facilities that are either part of the School or are used by the School include classrooms and office areas within the HP complex, activity spaces in the Field
Sports Building, Worthen Arena, JoAnn Gora Student Recreation and Wellness
Center (SRWC), Lewellen Pool, Ball Gymnasium and Pool, and several outdoor
activity spaces.

There are seven laboratory facilities that are part of the School:
Human Performance Laboratory (HPL), Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory,
Biomechanics Laboratory, Sport and Exercise Psychology Laboratory,
Undergraduate Exercise Science and First Aid Laboratory, Integrative Exercise
Physiology Laboratory, and Athletic Training Research and Education Laboratory.

The Human Performance, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, and Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratories function almost exclusively as research facilities, whereas the other laboratories are primarily used for educational/classroom purposes.

We are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for students, advancing the knowledge base of our disciplines through research, and serving the university, profession, and community.

Currently there are nearly 1,000 undergraduate students enrolled in the five undergraduate majors and 70 minors and nearly 145 graduate students enrolled in one of eight graduate programs.
