The Department of Educational Leadership is a nationally-recognized and growing department with 8 full-time faculty members and more than 450 students who are earning degrees and licensure at the Masters, Specialists, and Doctoral level. Courses are offered through online and hybrid formats in our college (Teachers College), which is ranked 11th in the nation for online graduate education by US News and World Report. The Department is interested in candidates with recent experience in the superintendency and school financial management expertise.

The Department of Educational Leadership at Ball State University, a respected leader in delivering high quality programs for administrative degree and licensure, is seeking outstanding applicants for a full-time, contract-line faculty position for spring semester, 2018. The department is interested in an innovative and collaborative professional with demonstrated excellence in educational leadership and practical experience in the field.

Major responsibilities include teaching four graduate level courses in Educational Leadership, service to the department and university, and participating in department meetings and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate in educational administration or educational leadership by the date of employment; successful record of university teaching in the field of educational leadership including teaching online and face to face; holds or has recently held a leadership position in a public or private school district, with preference given to those with experience as a P-12 superintendent; and successful financial management of a P-12 school district.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education including demonstrated record of quality service in higher education and professional organizations, at least three years of successful experience as a superintendent of a P-12 school district; holds administrative licensure for the principalship and superintendency; knowledge and use of technology educational applications; willingness and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners; demonstrated commitment to social justice; understanding of current issues and educational policy in P-12 contexts at the state and national level; and experience with educational financial management and school funding at the state and local level.


Indiana licensure as a building-level and/or district-level administrator.
